Robert Caron — Port Joli
Robert Caron is believed to have been born about 1611, or 22 July 1613, in the Évêché of La Rochelle, Aunis, France. He arrived in Quebec on 4 June 1634 and married Marie Crevet, daughter of Pierre Crevet and Marie LeMercier, on 25 October 1637 at Notre-Dame-de-Québec. They had seven children: Marie, Jean-Baptiste, Robert, Catherine, Joseph, Pierre, and Aimée.
Their daughter Marie Caron, born about 1638, married Jean Picard in 1656. Robert Caron died on 8 July 1656. Marie Crevet later married Noël Langlois on 27 July 1666. The monument at Port Joli honours Robert Caron and Marie Crevet as pioneers in America, 1636–1986.
